To remove the flywheel of a two-cycle engine, first lock the engine down. A length of rope inserted into the spark plug hole works perfectly—simply double the rope and insert the looped end into the spark plug hole, then rotate the engine until it locks. Remove the flywheel nut and flywheel followed by the length of rope. If the looped end of the rope is cut, examine the cylinder for foreign material.
